Cool Bay Area Ska Shows:

There are TONS of cool ska concerts happening in the San Francisco Bay Area...

Aug 29, 2008: Antonio Fargas at San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel
con-X-treme is honored to present special guest, Antonio Fargas. He is known around the world for his role as Huggy Bear in the 70s television series Starsky and Hutch. In the new millennium, Antonios career is as active as ever. He continues to add to his long list of achievements in film, theater and music. Most recently, gaining more fans through television appearances in a variety of shows, including; Heroes and Everybody Hates Chris.
Aug 29, 2008: Robert Axelrod - Actor and Voice Over Actor will appear at con-X-live at San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel
Robert Axelrod has carved a career in show business that runs the gamut. Born and raised in New York City, he did commercials and theater as a child and teen, eventually ending up in the Soho Avant-garde Theater scene in a show called “Little Trips”, then Off-Broadway in a play called “The Destroyers”. Axelrod left acting for the world of music. He spent eight years as a working rock musician playing electric bass and singing in folk, rock, and soul bands. Music brought him to Los Angeles where he decided to return to acting, a decision he never regrets.

Since then, Mr. Axelrod has appeared in over thirty feature films including four with Charles Bronson, the Sci-Fi hit remake “The Blob” with Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith”, “The Last Shot” with Alec Baldwin and Matthew Broderick, and many others. Television appearances include guest star roles on “Amazing Stories”, “Star Trek Voyager”, and “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”. He also starred in the Michael Jackson music video “Stranger in Moscow”.

Mr. Axelrod is also a busy voice over artist. He is the voice of Lord Zedd and Finster on the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”. The Lord Zedd voice is one of the most recognizable character voices around. He voiced Armadillomon and Wizradmon on “Digimon, Microchip, The Punisher’s sidekick, on “Spiderman”, Rico on “Robotech”, and has voiced countless Anime features including “Akira”, “The Big O”, “Cowboy Bebop”, “Brain Scratch”, et al. As Lord Zedd, he starred in both the first Power Rangers feature film and the wildly popular live show that toured the country. He was a regular character on Saban Entertainment’s “Wowser” series (as Ratso Catso), “Journey To The Heart of the World” (as Scarface), “Hallo Spencer” (as Elmer), and more. He just finished narrating the mockumentary “Safety First: The Rise of Women”.
Aug 29, 2008: Con-X-treme Animation and all things media convention at San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport Hotel
WHAT IS CON-X-TREME?

CON-X-TREME is volunteer-run animation and all things media convention held this year over the extended Labor Day weekend at the San Mateo Marriott Hotel. The primary area of emphasis is focused on the creation of art and media, traditional and non-traditional, without the limitation of holding true to a certain theme or topic.

While some may view this as simply it is another anime or science fiction convention event, the real opportunities this event brings forward is an opportunity for fans of all mediums to meet and network with both other fans and professionals alike. Whether it be physical art, virtual art, film & television, video games or music, CON-X-TREME attempts to have compelling, knowledgeable, and well-spoken Guests of Honor who are willing to spend time sharing their experiences within their respective industries, mentoring our attendees through discussion panels, classroom instruction, and other programming events.

Throughout each day of the weekend event, CON-X-TREME presents curriculum through a series of classroom programming where event members may participate in the discussion or hands-on study of particular subjects.

CON-X-TREME is not all classrooms, lectures, and study however, as we temper much of the proceeding with many other programming alternatives including, but not limited to, the following:

? A 24-hour anime programming room featuring professional and fan-created animation videos and programs;
? A room dedicated to premiering the latest in console and computer video games and technology;
? Dedicated space for costume gatherings and workshops which will culminate in a full costume contest event;
? Event space which promotes and displays artwork from many of the Bay Area’s most vibrant and popular artists;

All in all, CON-X-TREME aspires to provide opportunities for the truly creative side of fans and professionals to mix freely within an environment which inspires creativity and spontaneity.
.
